McSweeney's is a great site. I need to bookmark or del.icio.us it
e just saw the new Pride and Prejudice movie and that made go rent the Colin Firth mini-series. An intersting contrast. The movie has higher production values and less "twee" acting, by the longer mini-series is of course more faithful.
Thanks for the great post. Kids change everything, but you are still the sum of your experiences.
I guess the mini-series is going to be on tv (A&E) in case you want to watch it AGAIN...
Maybe you should read The Jane Austen Book Club--it's definitely a girly book, but there is one good male character and the spirit of Jane Austen definitely haunts the story.
I'm looking forward to seeing the big screen Keira Knightley extravaganza--it hasn't made it to the local multiplex yet. We saw Gwyneth Paltrow's Emma a couple of weeks ago, because I had read the book again. It's pretty good.
"Not to be a slave to fashion or commerce, not to succumb to arid self-censorship, not to bow to popular opinion—what is all that but a description of the educated, enlightened life?"
